Nikki’s Waltz

Very Easy

A very simple waltz.  There are only two left hand chords and the right hand melody encompasses only one octave.

The secret to play a waltz … or any other piece with a chord accompaniment …  is to be very careful not to play the chords too loudly.  Bass notes are by nature louder and more resonant than those in the treble clef.  And chords consist of two or more notes together which also boosts the volume.  So a careful balance must be struck.  And this little Waltz is a perfect opportunity to teach ( or learn) the knack of softening those bass accompaniment notes.  I always warn my students before they begin not to “bang” the chords.
